Video cover BBC Consumer Publishing Never did get to meet Robert Carlyle, but spent a long time drooling over lots of photos...this one is a composite image of Mr Carlyle cut out and cunningly placed on a suitably 'street' graffiti image. The TV series style was gritty realism, so the cover tries to reflect this. |

Twentieth Century Ceramics
Book design Millers (an imprint of Mitchell Beazley) Hardback, 256 pages, approximately 110,000 words, over 800 photographs and illustrations (each one having to be lovingly cut-out) This was one of my first major projects as a freelance designer after leaving the BBC. It involved glamorous meetings in South Kensington, contrasting nicely with baby-rearing in rural Wales. |

War of the Century
Book design BBC Consumer Publishing Hardback 256pp. As I was designing this book I was reading it, and it was a harrowing read. It contains some rare colour images and striking black and white photography. This book followed on from The Nazis - A Warning from History, and as with all BBC titles, the book accompanies the series. |

When I started work on this series I didn't have a TV, so I had no idea who any of these people were...couldn't understand the fuss. Needless to say I've done a lot of cookery titles.
